Maternity Cover GP – Cyncoed Medical Centre, Cardiff

Start Date: Week commencing 3rd August 2026

Duration: 6-12 months Fixed Term Contract

Sessions: 5 sessions per week (Friday morning is a fixed session)

Cyncoed Medical Centre is a welcoming and progressive practice seeking a motivated and compassionate GP to join our team on a fixed-term basis. This role offers the opportunity to work within a well-structured and supportive environment where delivering excellent patient care and promoting staff wellbeing are top priorities.

Sessions Required:

Five sessions per week are required.

  • Friday morning is mandatory and non-negotiable.

  • The remaining sessions can be agreed by mutual arrangement.


The role includes a combination of routine appointments and on-call/urgent care sessions, shared across our clinical team.

Job Summary:

Clare Road Medical Centre are looking for enthusiastic and motivated candidates who are passionate in their work and making a difference within the health care sector. We are currently looking for experienced Practice Nurses within General Practice setting-based in Cardiff. In this role you’ll be responsible and accountable for providing the highest standards of nursing. You will be required to be able to demonstrate effective nursing practice in all General Practice Nurse procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by the GPs

Such tasks may include:

  • Chronic Disease management (Diabetes, Asthma

  • Spirometry

  • Wound care / ulcer care including compression dressing

  • Removal of Sutures

  • ECG’s

  • Urinalysis

  • Peak Flow Readings

  • Venepuncture

  • Blood pressure measurements – fitting of and recording 24 hour BP readings

  • Ear syringing

  • Routine immunisations – including childhood immunisations

  • Travel vaccinations

  • Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician

  • Assisting GPs with dedicated minor surgery clinics

Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate

 Other tasks including:

  • Clean and sterilise equipment using autoclave (where appropriate)

  • Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs 

  • Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required

  • Undertake housekeeping duties including, general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses treatment room

  • Ordering of stock as appropriate

  • Participation in administrative systems in the practice

  • At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records

 Supplies and equipment – Treatment room and other areas:

 In participation with the other practice nursing staff, ensure the maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating to patient care. Regular stock checks, requesting basic pathology tests for example; urine culture, swabs, clinical consumables i.e. speculums.

Special Requirements of the Post:

  • An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.

  • Ability to use own judgment, resourcefulness, and common sense.

  • A commitment to maintain a high professional standard of nursing care and keep up to date with all aspects of nursing care relevant to the post.

  • A commitment to ensure all Health and Safety requirements and Infection Control measures are met and to report any problems to the practice manager

  • A commitment to the effective use of practice and NHS resources.

  • An awareness of own limitations and experience.

  • To work only in accordance with the UKCC Code of Conduct and within the Scope of Professional Practice

  • To have a written professional development plan and to maintain an up to date portfolio which meets the requirements of registration with the UKCC

  • Cooperate with annual appraisal meetings

  • Membership of the RCN

Job Summary

Treharris Primary Care Centre/Oaklands Surgery (Valleys Medical Group) are seeking a dedicated and organised Care Navigator/Receptionist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in coordinating patient care, providing administrative support, and ensuring seamless communication between patients and healthcare providers. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong organisational skills and a passion for delivering compassionate service within a healthcare setting.

The post is part time (24 hours), permanent with weekly hours between 08.00-18:30.

The applicant should be confident in IT, answering calls, supporting patients face to face and have the ability to multitask.

Full training will be provided but experience is desired. The main location of work will be at Treharris Primary Care Centre, however, working in our branch surgery in Oaklands Surgery is also expected.

The main duties of the role will include;

Due to the semi-retirement of our practice manager, we are looking to restructure our current management team to include an operations manager. The successful candidate would be joining a very motivated and friendly team, providing care to approximately 9500 patients in the Eastern Vale cluster.

The Role:

The Operations Manager will play a key leadership role within the practice, ensuring that operational processes run smoothly and that the practice meets its clinical, financial, and contractual objectives.

Working closely with the GP Partners, Practice Business Manager, and clinical teams, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence, supporting staff, and improving patient services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor performance against key targets and contracts.

JOB TITLE:  Receptionist/Care Navigator

‍We're small sized GP practice in Cardiff on a mission to deliver healthcare to our patients.

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and reliable Receptionist/ Care Navigator to join our friendly GP practice. You must have excellent communication skills and telephone manner, ability to work with other members of the team, good attention to detail and ability to adapt to all situation at ease. Previous experience would be desirable but is not essential as full training will be given.

‍Duties and Responsibilities:

  • ‍ ‍Greet patients on arrival and book them in on the GP clinical system and be aware of and operate within the reception protocol for Access to Medical Care.

  • Answer and make telephone calls in a professional manner and assist with or redirect queries as appropriate (i.e. patients / hospitals / outside agencies).

  • Maintaining and keeping both paper and electronic computer patient records up to date.

  • Undertake repeat prescribing requests / issues on daily basis.

  • Opening and distributing mail

  • Maintain and update the practice registers on receipt of patient information.

  • Assist in recalling of patients ensuring that patients’ computer health record is updated with all contact attempts.

  • Use all practice equipment such as scanning, photocopying and faxing.

  • Other reception duties as required.
