Llynfi Surgery is a friendly, enthusiastic, part-dispensing, GMS training practice in Maesteg with a branch surgery in Bryn. We are looking to recruit a salaried Dr for 4 sessions per week starting 1st October 2026 for a period of twelve months.

Job Summary:

We are currently looking for experienced Practice Nurses within General Practice setting-based in Cardiff. In this role you’ll be responsible and accountable for providing the highest standards of nursing. You will be required to be able to demonstrate effective nursing practice in all General Practice Nurse procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by the GPs
Such tasks may include:
Chronic Disease management (Diabetes, Asthma
Spirometry
Wound care / ulcer care including compression dressing
Removal of Sutures
ECG’s
Urinalysis
Peak Flow Readings
Venepuncture
Blood pressure measurements – fitting of and recording 24 hour BP readings
Ear syringing
Routine immunisations – including childhood immunisations
Travel vaccinations
Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
Assisting GPs with dedicated minor surgery clinics
Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate
Other tasks including:
Clean and sterilise equipment using autoclave (where appropriate)
Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
Undertake housekeeping duties including, general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses treatment room
Ordering of stock as appropriate
Participation in administrative systems in the practice
At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
Supplies and equipment – Treatment room and other areas:
In participation with the other practice nursing staff, ensure the maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating to patient care. Regular stock checks, requesting basic pathology tests for example; urine culture, swabs, clinical consumables i.e. speculums.
Special Requirements of the Post:
An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
Ability to use own judgment, resourcefulness, and common sense.
A commitment to maintain a high professional standard of nursing care and keep up to date with all aspects of nursing care relevant to the post.

About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive GP practice.
You will work as part of our multidisciplinary primary care team, providing a high standard of nursing care to our registered patient population. We are looking for someone who is committed to delivering excellent patient-centred care and who enjoys working collaboratively within a busy general practice environment.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills and contribute to the ongoing delivery and improvement of our practice nursing services.
Key responsibilities
Deliver a high standard of nursing care to patients across the practice.
Undertake routine and complex wound care and dressings.
Carry out health assessments and chronic disease reviews.
Support the management of conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD and cardiovascular disease.
Undertake immunisations and vaccinations in line with national guidance.
Perform cervical screening.
Carry out blood pressure checks, ECGs, blood tests and other clinical procedures within your scope of practice.
Provide health promotion and lifestyle advice.
Support the practice in meeting clinical targets and quality standards.
Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records.
Recognise and respond appropriately to patients whose health may be deteriorating.
Work collaboratively with GPs, healthcare assistants, pharmacists, community teams and other members of the wider multidisciplinary team.
Participate in clinical audits, infection prevention and control, safeguarding and practice improvement activities.
About you
We are looking for a registered nurse who is:
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Experienced in, or keen to develop a career within, general practice/primary care.
Confident in assessing patients and managing a varied clinical workload.
Able to work independently while also contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
Committed to providing safe, effective and compassionate patient care.
Organised, reliable and able to prioritise competing demands.
A clear and effective communicator with patients and colleagues.
Committed to continuing professional development and maintaining clinical competence.
Experience in areas such as chronic disease management, immunisations, cervical screening, wound care and health promotion would be advantageous, although applications from nurses who are keen to develop their primary care skills will be considered.
